Elegies

Elegies is a game/creative writing exercise primarily about imagining bad futures and doing something about that.

It's also part of an ongoing mixed media storytelling experience.

To play you will need:

• Pen and paper, or other notetaking/marking facilities.
• Basic research facilities such as internet search, online encyclopedia, books, or library access
• The willingness to sit with grief as part of a ludic process

The idea for this was generated at the same time as I came up with Decrypt, which I suppose explains both these games being less gamey and also kind of downers as their genesis is inextricably linked. I wanted to try something a bit more freeform than a previous projects.

It's a game fundamentally about climate grief and impending extinction events, so please bear that in mind before play if this is likely to cause you undue distress.

It was created for Week 6 of the Struthless Alphabet Superset Challenge, for the letter E (for Elegy).

Design, writing, graphics, all created by me, except for the 6 flavour photos which were licensed from Pexels and then modified by me.
